Our goals
Our mission is to aid displaced people and disaster victims inside Syria in meeting their basic and educational needs.
Five domains are tackled : education, health, food, living standards, and drinking water.
Update on the situation in Syria
The Northwest of Syria has been devastated by an earthquake which occurred on
February 6, 2023 in the middle of the night.
The World Health Organization laments “the worst natural disaster in a century”.
Another earthquake on February 20th resulted in making more weakened buildings fall and added to the desolation. This event is catastrophic for Syria, a country severely damaged by a conflict which lasted for ten years and a country hit by an economic crisis and a lack of everything including basic necessities. For example, electricity is cut for twelve hours at a time in certain places and running water is available during one hour a day.
As though this were not enough, the country is experiencing bitterly cold weather and torrential rains which have caused the Alassi River, which runs through Homs and Hama, to overflow its banks. There is a lack of everything : no trained rescue dogs, no heavy machinery, and no electricity. The survivors and rescue teams have had to search through the rubble with their bare hands for their loved ones. The rescue operations have had to cease at nightfall because of lack of lighting equipment.
Following the earthquake on February 6, 2023, thousands of people find themselves with no shelter and are forced to sleep outside in the winter cold. Thousands of children, having lost their parents, their families and all means of protection, are now orphans.
Up to 5.3 million people in Syria will possibly find themselves without a place to live as a result of the earthquake.
Sivanka Dhanapala, Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
The needs are enormous, and this dire situation risks becoming worse day after day if nothing Is done to bring aid to these disaster-stricken populations.
Our association worksinside Syria and in the affected zones. We have been able to increase our response to people in need through the network of confidence that we have built all along our existence.
Help us to give hope to those who have lost everything.
Cœur et Action pour la Syrie
Cœur et Action pour la Syrie is a humanitarian association without political or confessional affiliation which brings relief to displaced and disaster-stricken Syrian populations. It is animated only by volunteers.
Founded at the end of 2013 by a group of Franco-Syrian friends sharing the purpose of helping locally the Syrian population in need.
We act on five axes :
- Education,
- Health, Medical
- Food
- Living conditions
- Drinking water
Our association is declared at the Prefecture of Paris, announcement number 1582, published on 28/12/2013 in the official journal.
Our funding sources
Our funding comes from donations made by individuals and companies and proceeds from tag sales, our solidarity shop, and events such as concerts and conferences about Syria and the Middle East. Since all members are volunteers, the operating costs of the association are very low. All the funds collected are allocated to our humanitarian actions in the field.
In order to support us, you can directly make a donation on our site, offer an event, organize a conference or tag sale in your locality or donate items for our tag sales. We would also be pleased to welcome you as a volunteer during one of our events.
Our areas of action
Our actions are mainly structured around five axes : education, living conditions, health, food, and drinking water.
Our humanitarian projects are described on our Action page.
Here is a summary of the types of actions that we carry out thanks to funds raised as well as a brief history of these projects.
Winter 2013 — First action in the field : blanket distribution in camps in northern Syria where a few hundred very modest families were helped. The success of this first iniitiative motivated us to develop our actions.
2014- larger-scale actions : food and drinking water to meet essential needs of new camps for displaced populations. Drinking water tanks, food baskets, hygiene kits, all cold weather basics, etc. were distributed to camps and suburbs of Damascus. Thanks to donors, our actions reached several thousand families in several Syrian regions.
2015 — Starting actions in the health/medical field : increasing actions in the camps for displaced populations. Drinking water tanks, food baskets, hygiene kits, and all cold weather basics were distributed. Moreover, in the health field, our first actions were to finance prostheses for children and adults who lost limbs as a result of war as well as to provide clinical equipment for Syrians injured near the Turkish border. Our actions reached more than 10,000 displaced people in Syria.
