Our goals

Our mis­sion is to aid dis­pla­ced people and disas­ter vic­tims inside Syria in mee­ting their basic and edu­ca­tio­nal needs.
Five domains are tack­led : edu­ca­tion, health, food, living stan­dards, and drin­king water.

Update on the situation in Syria

The Nor­th­west of Syria has been devas­ta­ted by an ear­th­quake which occur­red on

Februa­ry 6, 2023 in the middle of the night.

The World Health Orga­ni­za­tion laments “the worst natu­ral disas­ter in a cen­tu­ry”.

Ano­ther ear­th­quake on Februa­ry 20^th resul­ted in making more wea­ke­ned buil­dings fall and added to the deso­la­tion. This event is catas­tro­phic for Syria, a coun­try seve­re­ly dama­ged by a conflict which las­ted for ten years and a coun­try hit by an eco­no­mic cri­sis and a lack of eve­ry­thing inclu­ding basic neces­si­ties. For example, elec­tri­ci­ty is cut for twelve hours at a time in cer­tain places and run­ning water is avai­lable during one hour a day. 

As though this were not enough, the coun­try is expe­rien­cing bit­ter­ly cold wea­ther and tor­ren­tial rains which have cau­sed the Alas­si River, which runs through Homs and Hama, to over­flow its banks. There is a lack of eve­ry­thing : no trai­ned rescue dogs, no hea­vy machi­ne­ry, and no elec­tri­ci­ty. The sur­vi­vors and rescue teams have had to search through the rubble with their bare hands for their loved ones. The rescue ope­ra­tions have had to cease at night­fall because of lack of ligh­ting equipment. 

Fol­lo­wing the ear­th­quake on Februa­ry 6, 2023, thou­sands of people find them­selves with no shel­ter and are for­ced to sleep out­side in the win­ter cold. Thou­sands of chil­dren, having lost their parents, their fami­lies and all means of pro­tec­tion, are now orphans. 

Up to 5.3 mil­lion people in Syria will pos­si­bly find them­selves without a place to live as a result of the earthquake.

The needs are enor­mous, and this dire situa­tion risks beco­ming worse day after day if nothing Is done to bring aid to these disas­ter-stri­cken populations. 

Our asso­cia­tion work­sin­side Syria and in the affec­ted zones. We have been able to increase our res­ponse to people in need through the net­work of confi­dence that we have built all along our existence.

Cœur et Action pour la Syrie

Cœur et Action pour la Syrie is a huma­ni­ta­rian asso­cia­tion without poli­ti­cal or confes­sio­nal affi­lia­tion which brings relief to dis­pla­ced and disas­ter-stri­cken Syrian popu­la­tions. It is ani­ma­ted only by volunteers.

Foun­ded at the end of 2013 by a group of Fran­co-Syrian friends sha­ring the pur­pose of hel­ping local­ly the Syrian popu­la­tion in need.

We act on five axes :

Our asso­cia­tion is decla­red at the Pre­fec­ture of Paris, announ­ce­ment num­ber 1582, publi­shed on 28/12/2013 in the offi­cial journal.

Our funding sources

Our fun­ding comes from dona­tions made by indi­vi­duals and com­pa­nies and pro­ceeds from tag sales, our soli­da­ri­ty shop, and events such as concerts and confe­rences about Syria and the Middle East. Since all mem­bers are volun­teers, the ope­ra­ting costs of the asso­cia­tion are very low. All the funds col­lec­ted are allo­ca­ted to our huma­ni­ta­rian actions in the field.

In order to sup­port us, you can direct­ly make a dona­tion on our site, offer an event, orga­nize a confe­rence or tag sale in your loca­li­ty or donate items for our tag sales. We would also be plea­sed to wel­come you as a volun­teer during one of our events.

Our areas of action

Our actions are main­ly struc­tu­red around five axes : edu­ca­tion, living condi­tions, health, food, and drin­king water.

Here is a sum­ma­ry of the types of actions that we car­ry out thanks to funds rai­sed as well as a brief his­to­ry of these projects.

Win­ter 2013 — First action in the field : blan­ket dis­tri­bu­tion in camps in nor­thern Syria where a few hun­dred very modest fami­lies were hel­ped. The suc­cess of this first inii­tia­tive moti­va­ted us to deve­lop our actions.

2014- lar­ger-scale actions : food and drin­king water to meet essen­tial needs of new camps for dis­pla­ced popu­la­tions. Drin­king water tanks, food bas­kets, hygiene kits, all cold wea­ther basics, etc. were dis­tri­bu­ted to camps and sub­urbs of Damas­cus. Thanks to donors, our actions rea­ched seve­ral thou­sand fami­lies in seve­ral Syrian regions.

2015 — Star­ting actions in the health/medical field : increa­sing actions in the camps for dis­pla­ced popu­la­tions. Drin­king water tanks, food bas­kets, hygiene kits, and all cold wea­ther basics were dis­tri­bu­ted. Moreo­ver, in the health field, our first actions were to finance pros­theses for chil­dren and adults who lost limbs as a result of war as well as to pro­vide cli­ni­cal equip­ment for Syrians inju­red near the Tur­kish bor­der. Our actions rea­ched more than 10,000 dis­pla­ced people in Syria.

2016 — Ache­mi­ne­ment de médi­ca­ments et de maté­riel médi­cal : Nous conti­nuons nos pro­jets dans les domaines de la san­té, la nour­ri­ture, l’eau et les condi­tions de vie et com­men­çons des pre­mières actions dans le domaine de l’é­du­ca­tion : Dans le domaine de la san­té, nous béné­fi­cions d’un par­te­na­riat avec l’as­so­cia­tion Tulipe qui per­met d’a­che­mi­ner des médi­ca­ments, nous ache­mi­nons du maté­riel médi­cal et dis­tri­buons du lait pre­mier âge, nous inter­ve­nons en réédu­ca­tion et en pose de pro­thèses pour bles­sés. Les actions dans les domaines de la nour­ri­ture et de l’eau potable res­tent tou­jours actifs. En édu­ca­tion, nous finon­çons la réfec­tion d’une école dans un camps de déplacé.

2017 — Actions contre la mal­nu­tri­tion et lan­ce­ment de la construc­tion d’une école : Cette année voit le lan­ce­ment d’un grand pro­jet de construc­tion d’une école pri­maire en dur dans un camps de dépla­cés, grâce au sou­tien de la Fon­da­tion Total et de nom­breux dona­teurs. Une autre action d’am­pleur nous per­met de faire un recen­se­ment et de four­nir des com­plé­ments ali­men­taires pour nour­ris­sons et enfants en état de mal­nu­tri­tion grâce à des dons de la socié­té Nutri­set que nous ache­mi­nons sur place. Nous conti­nuons des actions de sou­tiens à l’ap­pro­vi­sion­ne­ment en nour­ri­ture, en eau et en maté­riel de chauf­fage pour les dému­nis dans plu­sieurs régions du pays, nous inter­ve­nons pour pro­té­ger les tentes et ter­ras­ser les che­mins dans un camp de déplacés.

2018 — Ren­trée des classes dans la nou­velle école : voit la fina­li­sa­tion de la construc­tion d’une école pri­maire et la ren­trée des classes de sep­tembre pour plus de 550 élèves. Les actions dans le domaine de l’é­du­ca­tion (dis­tri­bu­tion de maté­riel sco­laire et finan­ce­ment d’un bus de ramas­sage sco­laire), de la san­té (réha­bi­li­ta­tion d’un centre pour enfants han­di­ca­pés), de la nour­ri­ture (dis­tri­bu­tion de paniers ali­men­taires) et des condi­tions de vie (pro­tec­tions et moyens de chauf­fage l’hi­ver)
se pour­suivent dans plu­sieurs régions en Syrie.

2019 — Actions dans les domaines Édu­ca­tion, Condi­tions de vie et San­té : Nos actions sont en majo­ri­té axées sur l’é­du­ca­tion, les condi­tions de vie et la san­té, aus­si bien dans des camps de plu­sieurs mil­liers de per­sonnes que dans des ban­lieues de Damas où vivent de nom­breux dépla­cés. Nous conti­nuons à finan­cer du ramas­sage sco­laire et des moyens de chauf­fage et nous avons ache­mi­né un don impor­tant de fau­teuils roulants.
