A physiotherapy training course for 17 physiotherapists in Damascus

17 April 2024 //  by Toni Helal

In April 2024, Coeur & Action funded a training course in Damascus for 17 physiotherapists, focused on treating cerebral palsy in children.

Training those who care for children

Cerebral palsy affects movement and posture from early childhood. Regular, suitable rehabilitation greatly helps these children become more independent. By training physiotherapists locally, we help far more children than we could equip directly : each participant then puts these techniques into practice with their young patients.

Eight weeks of training

The course lasted 8 weeks, one day a week. The participants worked on real cases, with hands-on exercises on a doll to learn the right techniques for carrying and moving children. The course was a real success for the 17 participants, who all received a certificate of participation at the end of the training.

Our work for children’s health

This course complements the other medical aid we funded in 2024, such as hearing aids and orthopaedic braces for children in Aleppo, and orthopaedic shoes in Damascus.

Help us continue

Every donation helps us support caregivers and children in Syria. Thank you to all our donors, who made this course possible.
